December 14, 2023
Dear members,
Your bargaining committee resumed negotiations with the Company from December 5th through December 14th, 2023. The Company remains steadfast in their desire to make drastic changes to our current Collective Agreements. Our obligation is to preserve our longstanding and hard-fought history and make improvements to all our Agreements.
Despite the Company’s insistence, we have continued to decline their proposals and have completed the delivery of all our demands. These demands reflect our collective desire for better working conditions, wage and benefit increases to combat the rising cost of living, and flexibility in your need for time away from the workplace and the right to disconnect.
As you are aware the Company served the Union notice under section 18 of the Code to merge 14 of our collective agreements. As a result of this merger, the negotiation process has become more complex and time consuming than usual due to the extensive list of demands required to address all our members concerns.
We are scheduled to meet with the Company the week starting January 8th, 2024. Your negotiating committee remains confident that we can reach an agreement with the Company that encompasses the best interests of all members.
Thank you for your patience and support with the process
In Solidarity,
