TCRC CTY WestCN Interest Binding Arbitration Update

Dear members,
As you are aware, the Minister of Labour used a provision in the Canada Labour Code (Section 107) to end the work stoppage last August and force all outstanding issues to Final Interest Binding Arbitration.
It was mutually agreed to have Arbitrator William Kaplan as the arbitrator for this process. It was also agreed to have 2 sessions of mediation prior to having arbitration.
Your negotiating team attended mediation in Toronto March 7 to 10, 2025 inclusive and this past weekend March 22 and 23, 2025. Although attempting to mediate a settlement, Arbitrator Kaplan was unsuccessful.
The next step is to have all outstanding issues presented to Arbitrator Kaplan on April 2nd, 2025 and his award to follow sometime afterwards. As a reminder, his award will be binding on both the Union and the Company.
